Urban Assault Austin
Last Monday I was catching up on my email and came across a little blurb about the UA in Austin…I quickly called my partner in crime J and asked him if he would be interested in joining in…and he said YES!
While looking around the website I saw a little phrase that caught my eye about not letting money be an issue as to why you didn’t participate…so I shot an email to the address and quickly got a code back for 1/2 off…so instead of $60 each we paid $30 each…AWESOME…
So Saturday was mostly about making sure that I got everything together that we might need for Sunday…which included a couple of trips to Academy to make sure that some good sunglasses and a bike lock were in hand…
Sunday we woke up bright and early and had a good breakfast and a nice cup of coffee…and we were off!
The atmosphere was electric…I LOVED IT…I didn’t realize how much I had missed it!
The premise of the day was basically a scavenger hunt on a bike. They gave you 6 places to go and 2 mystery clues and you determined your own route.
We made all 6 places plus 1 of the mystery stops…we did not however get to participate in all the obstacles at said stops…one line was really long and one just was too physically demanding for me by the end of the ride…but the last one included diving for beer in the bottom of a pool…I was TOTALLY in on that challenge! Too bad I didn’t get to drink said beer!
I had a couple of issues along the way…One flat tire…that J had to take to the next stop which happened to be a bike shop to get repaired…and then on the way to that stop I lost a clip on one of my shoes…so that bike shop got business from me twice that day
All in all I am SO glad I did it…I will TOTALLY do it again…and I am proud of myself for not giving up when it got hard. I burned over 2500 calories and I was BACK on my bike again…I have missed it!

A Week In Pictures
So…where have I been this week? I have been trying to pick up the pieces and get back on track. I really do believe this time I have finally hit my bottom and REALLY want to get back to the top.
