Super Buddy and my weekend

First HAPPY 7th BIRTHDAY THOMAS! a.k.a. Super Buddy! While we didn't do anything super exciting for his birthday I did get to see him and spend some time with him! Sara (my SIL) and I reminisced about the day he was born. It sure doesn't seem like 7 years ago! On top of the birthday...he has his first loose tooth! I asked him if he could stop growing up now...he told me he wanted to get bigger! Oh well, I tried!

A couple of weeks ago when they came and stayed with me he saw this picture of us on the table and he proceeded to tell me the story of that day! He told me Aunt Nana, that is the day we came to watch you swim and ride your bike and then you ran and we found you and cheered for you. It made my heart melt that he would remember all those details. He is such a great kid! I tell him all the time that I love his guts!

So lets see, this weekend I:
  • Did Week 1 Day 3 of my Couch to 5K program
  • Read 1 entire Girlie Book and loved every cheesy moment of it!
  • Started reading the Ali Vincent book
  • Checked out the AWESOME farmers market/grocery store that just opened right down the street (this is going to be trouble!)
  • Watched most of the 4 football games
  • Packed up my Christmas Decorations (boo)
  • Washed and put away my MOUNTAIN of clean clothes
  • Cleaned my apartment
  • Made a Breakfast Cookie (and liked it)
  • Talked to Delia :)
  • Worried about my brother and his trip to the ER (he had a really high blood pressure and now needs some follow up because he is still having issues)
  • Watched/Listened to the CMT countdown while I cleaned
  • Started purging for my move (that happens at the end of the month...EEK!)
  • Downloaded some new tunes in itunes
  • Survived a trip to Target with minimal damage to my bank account
  • Got a free 4 pound bag of Organic Oranges
  • Got a free 4 pound bag of Organic Apples
I got some relaxing in there somewhere and it was MUCH needed! I think I might be ready to tackle the week :)

Tomorrow is WI day and I am ready to tackle that as well!

Here is to a GREAT week! What did you do this weekend?

It hurts!

Man I took a yoga class on Monday evening and I HURT! Yesterday about 5PM I realized that body parts were hurting! Oh well, no rest for the weary! I went to my physical therapy appointment and then headed to the gym for Day 2 of my Couch to 5K program. By the time I got to the gym my legs were hurting and now my back was irritated with me!

But here is the deal...I made a goal for myself. One that I had only discussed with Anika and I had to go through with it. The goal...to get to the gym and do cardio throughout the 2 hour Biggest Loser telecast each week.

You know what that means don't you? It means I have to listen to the whining, the crying, the product placements, the commercials, the LONG drawn out weigh ins...all of it. Not that it really matters, but I really like to fast forward through some of that!

Well last night was week 1 and I did it. I did 30 minutes of it via physical therapy and an hour and a half on the treadmill. 30 minutes of which was my Couch to 5K program. Next week I will shake it up and do my 30 minutes of my program and then attempt to do the rest on the elliptical. Anyone want to join me in this adventure?

So needless to say I was EXHAUSTED by the time I left the gym. I had dinner and made it an early night!

Today my legs were tired and my upper body was sore from Yoga...so today is a self imposed rest day! Tomorrow I will be back at it working on crossing things off my list that I wanted to accomplish this week.

On another note...there has been some stuff going on that I can't really talk about on the blog just yet, other than to say...I HAVE THE GREATEST FRIENDS/FAMILY EVER! I put out and S.O.S. and within moments had all the support that one girl could ever ask for! I had thought provoking questions, shoulders to cry and lean on...whatever I needed or wanted they just offered without even batting an eye. I LOVE MY FRIENDS/FAMILY! You guys are the best and I appreciate you more than you could EVER EVER EVER know!

As for tonight, my rest night...my friend Amy came over and we had dinner. I didn't really have a plan but we improvised quite nicely! We had Chipotle Hamburgers with Feta Cheese on a sandwich thin, strawberries, yellow bell pepper slices and roasted brussel sprouts. It was DELISH! Thanks for coming over Amy!

And with that I leave you with this:

There was a Plus and A Sweat Session

First day back at work after two weeks off...hard to get out of bed!

Today was my WW meeting. There was a +2. First thought was to pout, but you know what, I had fun with my friends and I worked out nearly everyday. These things are going to happen, it is called life. MOVING ON!

It was a good meeting. The first 10 weeks of the year they are going to go over "The Momentum 2010 Challenge" 10 tricks to help start you in the right direction.

Today was Tracking. So guess what is getting pulled out...ye old tracker!

After the meeting I drove straight to the gym and changed. Got in 2o minutes on the treadmill before my 7:30 Yoga class started. HOLY HOT BATMAN! It is "cold" in Texas and when it gets "cold" every place turns the heat on. It was like a sauna! I do believe that Bikram yoga would kill me at this point! :) It was a good sweat session...along with good stretching! I am glad I did it!

By the time I got home I was FAMISHED! I made myself a hamburger patty with Chipotle Tabasco (YUM) on a sandwich thin with some reduced fat Feta! Then I broiled some sweet potatoes that I had bought in the frozen food section at Whole Foods along with a sliced up yellow bell pepper...it was FANTASTIC! That and lots of water and I am one happy girl!

So glad to see everyone doing so well! Thanks for all the new folks that have stopped by and left comments! Support is what it is all about!

Have a great one!

Mission to get off the Couch update!

Thank you Anika for helping me get my LAZY ASS off the couch! This past week I have:
  • Taken my first Pilates Class
  • Taken a Spin Class
  • Taken an Amp'd Abs Class
  • Done Time on the Elliptical
  • Hiked Enchanted Rock
  • Run a 5K
  • Hiked at Walnut Creek
  • And started My Couch to 5K program again!
I wouldn't have done all this without her help! I am so glad she pushed me (without even knowing it). On the books for this week:
  • Another Pilates Class
  • Spin
  • Elliptical Time
  • Day 2 and Day 3 of my Couch to 5K
  • Yoga
  • Arm Work
  • and a Hike if the weather permits!
There were also trips to the grocery store and new veggies purchased! There was a need for roasted brussel sprouts :) We had good low calories meals! Along with splurges and Trader Joe's goodness!

I am looking forward to turning over a new leaf!

What are you doing this week?

On the last day

We had SO much fun this past weekish. Those girls are amazing and I am blessed to have them in my life! Thank you Anika and Lely for coming to spend time with me. It was MUCH needed! I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did!

After the Run we showered and took an impromptu trip to San Antonio. We Remembered the Alamo, strolled the River Walk, braved the Tech fans and had some amazing Mexican Food at La Fogata! It was a good time!

So we came home from San Antonio and sacked OUT! We slept in a bit...8 AM :)

Our last morning/early afternoon together was spent strolling along South Congress in Austin shopping and then grabbing a lunch before I took Anika to the airport and Lely left to drive back to Houston! It was a BEAUTIFUL DAY!

This was Larry...we want Larry!

Never shall I forget the times I spent with you; continue to be my friend, as you will always find me yours.

Resolution Run!

We got up this morning and made our way to Round Rock to participate in the Resolution Run. It was Anika and Lely's first 5K! They KICKED BUTT! They both jogged the entire time and finished in just under 35 minutes! My goal was to finish in under 40 minutes and I did it in 38:20!

I was very proud of myself! My first thought when I stopped jogging with them was, ok I have run a bit and no one would know if I didn't start jogging again...whooo, what? I did NOT get up to not try and do my best! So I made it a priority to do the VERY best that I could! I would pick a truck or a cone or a tree and run until then and then walk while I was picking out my next starting point. When I finished Mile 1 and I had run it in under 12 minutes...I knew I could do this! So I just kept pushing myself!

It was a great experience to share with them and it was a great personal experience for me to push through. Oh yeah...and Anika won a massage! WHOOO!

Today is a new day, a new month, a new year and I have to make the choice to make it my best day, my best month, my best year...ME! NO ONE ELSE CAN DO THAT FOR ME!
